Current indications show that tourism has been strong in the Ixtapa Real Estate area. The end of the summer tourism season saw as strong finish, which one observer described by pointing out that “although highway leading out of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo was at a recorded level of 13 cars per minute, the b&b cavan occupancy remained steady at over 80% in Ixtapa.”

The majority of visitors in that season were Mexican nationals coming from various other states, such as Michoacán, Queretaro, Guanajuato, and Mexico City. More of these summer time visitors have realized the benefit of renting a condo or a house for their summer vacation.  While the b&b cavans show high occupancy, and consequently raise their rates, a rented condo house offers them an option not only comparable in prices, but more comfortable and convenient.

One visitor from the state of Queretaro pointed out that renting a summer home is better because this way they enjoy the convenience of preparing their meals, and can save some money by purchasing their supplies for the season rather than eating out all the time.

The benefit of a more private pool (shared only with others in the condo unit) is an added attraction, which one vacationer described as “safer and more convenient.”

This trend among national visitors, combined with market for renting to international visitors, points to a good opportunity in Ixtapa Real Estate for buyers looking for a condo in the area.  Many Americans and Canadians prefer to enjoy their condo or second home in Ixtapa for the winter, when it’s very cold back home, and the pacific coast climate is like a warm spring day.  While the condo is not in use, it can be rented to make a beachfront winter home double as an investment income.  Of course, purely rental investment is an attractive possibility as well.
